Janet has been providing property management since 1978 and started Horizon Properties in 1988. Building the company from the bottom up, she is proud to say that two of her original five clients are still with Horizon Properties today.
Never having purchased accounts or employed mass marketing techniques, Janet prefers instead to build her company slowly, mostly through referrals. “I believe that the key to our success,” she says, “is that we treat all owners, tenants and vendors with the same level of courtesy and respect. That, and good communication!”
Janet holds an MPM (Master Property Manager) designation from NARPM (National Association of Residential Property Managers), which is held by fewer than 80 property managers nationwide and an RMP (Residential Property Manager) designation. Having served on the Board of Directors of the Sacramento Chapter of NARPM for more than 15 years, Janet served as Vice President in 2004 and President in 2005 and 2006.
Brian was born and raised in Philadelphia. He graduated from La Salle University with a BS in Accounting.
After a 28 year career as a Bank Examiner with FDIC, he retired and joined Horizon Properties as Vice President and supervisor of the Accounting department. In his free time, Brian is an avid reader, enjoys music, chess and going on adventures with his family.
Robine has been with Horizon Properties since 2004 and is the Office Manager. Her calm demeanor and patience enable her to ensure that all our clients are served in a professional and efficient manner. Originally from Southern California, she lived in Nevada and worked in Personnel for the State for a number of years before living in Hawaii for some time. Robine settled in Northern California and has been working with Horizon Properties since 1998. In her leisure, she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, training her dogs and taking trips to the beach.
Tim holds the honor of being our very first employee! A licensed property manager who has been with Horizon Properties since 1993, Tim is originally from the Los Angeles area. He studied Business Administration at Cal State Northridge and thereafter attended real estate school and obtained his Real Estate license before joining Horizon Properties.
As the senior Property Manager for Horizon Properties, Tim does field work including property inspections, taking on new properties, doing photography for the website and serving legal notices. He enjoys camping, traveling with his family, hiking, reading, and stamp collecting. His true passion, however, is the 1967 Volkswagen Beetle he has been driving since 1968. In fact he has Beetles from both millennia owning a 2008 model as well.
Lisa has been with Horizon Properties since 2005 and has an extensive background in Real Estate. She draws on that experience as our Leasing Agent when handling the numerous calls and emails from people interested in seeing or renting our available properties.
She loves dealing with people, which is a good thing since Lisa often spends her entire day telling people all about our rentals, pre-qualifying them, giving them directions and setting up private showing appointments.
In her spare time, she and her husband take care of their three small dogs, one huge cat and like to ride their Spyder whenever possible.
Michelle is Horizon Properties’ bookkeeper and has an extensive background in accounting with more than 10+ years of bookkeeping experience.
Born and raised in Santa Rosa, California, Michelle enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, camping, cooking, travelling, listening to music, photography and her puppy Chance.
Crystal is a Property Manager for Horizon Properties, conducting field work including property inspections, posting FOR RENT signs and serving legal notices, as well as assisting in the office with various tasks.
She graduated from Cal State Sacramento and then spent eight years in Tucson, Arizona, four years of which were spent working in the multi-family property management field.
Crystal enjoys spending her leisure devoting quality time to family, traveling, making quilts, camping, and fishing.
Rich is our Data Administrator and is responsible for new property intake and data management. A problem solver by nature, Rich is an explorer of possibilities. Born and raised in California, Rich spends his free time exploring his interests and passions include foraging, fishing, wilderness living skills, technology, food, martial arts and travel. Rich is often found reading and enjoys learning new skills.
Carissa is a Maintenance Coordinator and is responsible for arranging all repairs needed by our valued tenants, working with tenants, owners and vendors to ensure that all of our occupied properties are well maintained. She grew up in the valley (Modesto, Oakdale, Manteca) in a home with four siblings. After graduating high school, she relocated to Tucson, Arizona for a short time but returned to California to be closer to family. She enjoys spending quality time with her son, family and friends.
Maryana is a Maintenance Coordinator for Horizon Properties and works with owners, tenants, vendors and others as she strives to ensure that vacant and available properties are turned over and maintained in a professional and efficient manner.
She has lived many places, including Iowa, the Bay Area, Los Angeles and Uruguay, before coming here and joining us with a lot of great experience. Maryana loves many things, including Sacramento, being a voracious reader and her cat, Lola!
Shelly is our Leasing Assistant, handling application processing, assisting tenants with the application process and keeping owners informed of the activity on their available properties every week.
She was born in Kingston, Jamaica and came to America when she was six years old. The youngest of eight children, she lived in New York City and then Pennsylvania where she completed high school and attended Penn State University and completed her graduate program in Organizational Management.
Shelly enjoys festivals, playing and coaching volleyball and basketball, going to the gym and traveling.
Marcie is a Property Manager for Horizon Properties, conducting field work including property inspections, posting FOR RENT signs and serving legal notices, as well as assisting in the office with various tasks related to the properties under our care.
She attends American River College and enjoys outdoor activities including gardening, hiking, camping and fishing and competes in disc golf and snowboarding. Marcie delights in sharing her interests with her husband and stepdaughter.
Sue loves to stay busy and has worn many hats for Horizon Properties since 1998. She is responsible for conducting nearly all of our showings of available properties at our aspiring tenants’ convenience. She carries two cell phones and works from dawn well into the evening seven days a week.
Sue is always willing to go the extra mile to help others. Originally from Michigan, she is a mother of nine children and 22 grandchildren. In the little spare time she has, she enjoys playing bingo.
Amanda provides support for many areas of Horizon Properties’ functions and is the mother of four!
She loves listening to music and playing sports with her kids. From Marysville, California, she has lived in southern California and Las vegas before relocating to Sacramento.
Amanda has more than five years of property management experience in both multi- and single-family homes. She is Fair Housing Certified.
Tammi has been our weekend Showing Coordinator here at Horizon Properties since 2008. Checking and responding to email and voice mail frequently from Friday evening through Sunday night, she enjoys helping people find their perfect home.
Born and raised in California, her high school alma mater is Del Campo. Her first position here in Sacramento was as a Special Education Instructional Assistant working with special needs children. While attending American River College, she began her career in State Government at the age of 19. After working for the Board of Equalization, California Highway Patrol and the Department of Social Services for more than 15 years, she retired from her Program Analyst position to spend more time with her two young children and the love of her life! Tammi has many years and a wide range of experience in tax collecting, database management, statistics, special education, customer service and program analysis, and so she has assumed the title of Jane of All Trades. No matter what job she does, she loves to surround herself with people!
